The Jeremy McWilliams Superbike Academy team will field two of Northern Ireland's hottest young racing talents at Assen this weekend in the penultimate round of the IDM Supersport Championship. 19-years-old, Carrickfergus rider Glenn Irwin will ride McWilliams' Honda CBR, following the ex-MotoGP racers move to the KTM Superbike team.
McWilliams will be dividing his time between his Superbike duties and guiding Glenn, and team regular 15-years-old Josh Elliott, throughout the weekend. Both riders tested with McWilliams at Assen recently and the team are confident that both riders will be at the front of the field.Glenn Irwin, "I'm really delighted to join the the Jeremy McWilliams Superbike Academy team for the Assen round of the IDM. To test with Jeremy and Josh was unbelievable. The Honda handles really well and feels very similar to my Suzuki back home, which meant it was easier for me to get on the pace right away. Josh and I are good mates and get on really well so I'm very excited about racing with him this weekend."
Josh Elliott, "It was good to get back on the bike again after six weeks. I'm still trying to find my rhythm again after the hard fall at Salzburgring at the beginning of July. I'll try to get back on the pace at the weekend and it would be nice to get a result. Glenn is riding superbly at the minute and had no problem going fast right away at Assen, so I'm sure he'll go very well."
